Monday, May 20th , 2024
The season is finished for Antonio Villareal of the Montreal Royals. The club announced today that he will forego the rest of the year because of injury. The Royals reliever suffered a torn flexor tendon in his elbow while throwing a pitch in a recent game against the Chesapeake Tailgators. Team doctors said it would take at least 13 months to heal.
This year, Villareal has registered no saves in 10 relief appearances. He has also compiled a 2-1 won-lost mark with a 1.23 ERA. In 14.2 innings he has fanned 7.
