Balletta Tames Denver
Wednesday, May 7th , 2025
The Denver Pilots manager was philosophical in the clubhouse following a shutout loss to the Westwood Bruins. The Pilots were overpowered by Westwood starter Tom Balletta, who hurled his club to victory, 2-0.
"It was just one of those games -- shake it off and do better next time," Byung-sik Lee said.
Over 9 innings, Balletta blanked Denver on 4 hits with no walks and 6 strikeouts.
"I kept them off balance. I could tell a lot of them were late on fastballs because they were fouling them off. Once you see that, it sets them up for other pitches," Balletta said.
"I set them up, where if they chased one breaking ball, they were going to chase another one."
In 5 starts this season, Balletta has recorded 2 wins and absorbed 1 loss. He has pitched 28.2 innings, allowed 20 hits, struck out 20 and has a 3.14 ERA.
