Hickory Held Hitless by O'Brien
Tuesday, May 6th , 2025
In a dominant outing, Aaron O'Brien of the Spokane Selects totally silenced the bats of the Hickory Crawdads, finishing with a no-hitter.
In the 5-0 victory, O'Brien faced only 29 batters, surrendered no hits, had 9 strikeouts and 2 walks.
"Honestly, I didn't even know the situation was what it was until the seventh inning," Spokane manager Chris McLure said. "I happened to look up there to see how many hits we had gotten, and I happened to notice that they hadn't gotten any."
Commenting on the defeat, losing manager Ray Sanchez told reporters in the clubhouse that he had a "simple" analysis of the game.
"The Selects had all the hits and all the runs, so they won," he snapped. "But yeah, O'Brien pitched a heck of a ballgame."
O'Brien has gone 3-2 this season with an ERA of 3.55 and 44 strikeouts in 38 innings pitched. Other clubs are hitting .180 against him.
