MacDonald Goes Hitless, Streak Stopped at 21
Wednesday, May 26th , 2021
For 21 straight games, Lee MacDonald tried to ignore his hitting streak. It wasn't easy.
Well, the 26-year-old Randolph Prairie Thunder second baseman can forget about it now -- it's over, courtesy of the Fremont Marshalls. The Marshalls held him hitless in 4 at-bats at Prairie Thunder Ballpark and snapped his consecutive-game hitting string at 21.
There was at least one good note to the end of the streak, however, as the Prairie Thunder took the win by the score of 3-1.
"I tried to ignore it for weeks, but you guys in the media wouldn't let me," he joked with reporters after the game. "I'm looking forward to some peace and quiet now."
Hitting .298 to date, MacDonald has 3 home runs and 12 RBIs. He has played in 38 games.
