Van Diest Goes Cycling Tuesday, July 28th , 2026 In an outing that will go down in the annals of league history, Toronto left fielder D.J. Van Diest hit for the cycle, as the Trash Pandas marched to victory over the Detroit Giants, 14-1. Van Diest collected 4 hits in 4 at-bats, including 1 single, 1 double, 1 triple and 1 home run. He added 4 runs batted in and 2 runs scored to help Toronto take the Trash Panda Field contest. "It was the last thing on my mind, really," Van Diest said. "I'm out there trying to get a blooper or a walk or whatever might help the team. Even if I had wanted to, hitting for the cycle is probably as much about luck as about skill anyway." D.J. Van Diest tripled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, hit a three-run home run off Heath Maughn in the 4th, hit an RBI double in the 5th and walked in the 7th.
