Nightmare Victors, 6-1, at Cincinnati
|
The New York Nightmare and Cincinnati Royals completed their game despite the inclement weather.
New York pitcher Joe Schroeder had a large part in his team subduing the Cincinnati Royals, 6-1. The opposition could never mount much of a rally against the left-hander. In 5.1 innings, Schroeder surrendered 4 hits, while striking out 3 and walking 3. He allowed 1 run. Picking up the save was Tony Morales, his 1st.
The Nightmare got a big at-bat from center fielder Maik Penn. For the game, Penn went 1-4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the top of the fourth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 9th home run of the season gave New York a 2-1 lead.
"Whenever we hold the other team to one run," said Nightmare manager Joey Bishop, "I like our chances."
New York raised its record to 54-50 with the win.
