Cabrera Reaches 2000 Milestone Tuesday, September 21st , 2021 Jonathan Cabrera's bat made good contact with the ball as he has many times in his career, but this time it added his name to an elite list of players with 2000 hits. "This is a tremendous honor. You grow up dreaming of becoming a American Baseball Association player, but never did I ever think I would get to this point," an emotional Cabrera said after the game. The Oakland shortstop went to the plate 4 times and racked up 2 hits to gain the honor. But the Invaders couldn't pull off a win -- they fell to the Sandusky Seagulls, 11-1. "It certainly would have been nice to have won, but tomorrow is another day. I'm going to enjoy this moment with my friends and family," Cabrera said. In his career, Cabrera has played in 2020 games, totaling 2001 hits, 434 doubles, 22 triples and 232 homers. He has hit .274 with 956 RBIs and scored 912 times.
