Pines Come Up Short at Charleston, 2-1
|
Charleston got a strong outing from Felipe Gonzalez as the Shiners defeated the Maine Pines, 2-1, at Ballpark of Charleston. The save was credited to Gary Montgomery, his 35th. The second-place Shiners have won 4 in a row.
The Shiners got an important contribution from third baseman Greg Molnar, who in the bottom of the fourth punched a first pitch fastball into left for a solo home run. It was his 8th home run of the season and put the Shiners ahead, 2-0.
"We'll hit the hot tub in good spirits tonight," said Gonzalez.
