League Issues Penland 4-Game Suspension Wednesday, July 5th , 2023 Robby Penland, second baseman for the New York Nightmare, will be getting a few days off the hard way -- a 4-game suspension for aggressively arguing with an umpire in a recent game with Chicago. After being called out on strikes, Penland stood toe-to-toe with the home plate umpire and hotly contested the call. Apparently he got too close to the arbiter and was ejected from the game, allegedly making contact with the bill of his cap. "I don't remember billing him. I don't remember doing that," Penland told BNN today. Currently Penland is batting .259 with 7 home runs, 31 RBIs and 34 runs scored. |
