Villarreal Magic in 3-0 Shutout Saturday, August 14th , 2021 Lorenzo Villarreal led the Sandusky Seagulls to a shutout victory, 3-0, over the Detroit Giants at Seagull Park. "My pitching coach told me before the game just to bear down and focus," Villarreal recalled later. "He said no one was going to hit me if I'm throwing a good breaking ball with good location." Villarreal yielded 3 hits and had 7 strikeouts and 1 walk in the standout performance. "I thought he put the ball where he wanted to," Detroit manager Sean O'Leary said. "And that's just about the whole secret to pitching." On his stats sheet for the year Villarreal shows a 8-9 record, 21 starts, 166.2 innings, 83 strikeouts and a 3.67 ERA.
