Thompson Leads Detroit Past Oakland
Justin Thompson was on the winning side of a pitcher's duel at Howard Terminal. In fact, the Detroit Giants right-hander was instrumental in his team's 2-0 victory over the Oakland Invaders. Detroit is now 66-54, Oakland 68-52.

Thompson, who leaned on his slider, allowed no runs on just 1 hit over 8.1 innings for the Giants. For the most part, Oakland hitters were simply overmatched.

"It was just a matter of executing," said Detroit manager Sean O'Leary.
