Helm Tosses 6-0 Shutout
Monday, August 9th , 2021
Before the game, Jay Helm said he liked his chances. His instincts proved to be right. In a superb outing at Whislters Park, the Whistlers pitcher blanked the Dallas Dragons, 6-0.
"I just had a feeling it was going to be my day," Helm said in the clubhouse afterward. "My control was awesome. I could throw my splitter even when I was behind in the count."
The Boston starter held Dallas scoreless, giving up 6 hits while registering 6 strikeouts and issuing 2 walks.
"We didn't have very many good at-bats," Dragons manager Juan Gonzales said in a postgame interview. "When that happens, you usually lose."
So far this season, Helm has logged a 10-9 record with a 2.91 ERA. He has started 24 games, hurled 185.2 innings and registered 110 strikeouts and 66 walks.
