Renegades Not Competitive in 18-0 Loss to (SF) Newport News Saturday, January 11th , 2020 In an outstanding mound performance, (SF) Newport News Shipbuilders starter Jim Mendoza fired a complete-game shutout against the (DAL) Chihuahua Renegades at Newport Park today. Mendoza was the key to the Shipbuilders's 18-0 win. The 23-year-old left-hander was in high spirits on the mount for much of the game, his mood largely undented by the 3 hits and no walks he allowed. "3 hits?" he said with a laugh following the game. "Listen, I'd be happy with a 30-hitter as long as it was a shutout." This season Mendoza has compiled a 3-1 record with a 2.70 ERA.
