The home crowd had a good time watching the Chicago Gangsters and Syracuse Scorpions get after it.

Riding the 3-hit performance of the 24-year old left fielder Chris Stanifer, the Syracuse Scorpions stopped the Chicago Gangsters, 5-2. Eric Willhite picked up the win in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Brian Kauppinen suffered the loss. Ken Allbaugh, credited with the save, is now 21 for 27 in save opportunities.

Ryan Mallory, who is a four-time All-Star, aided the Syracuse cause with a run-scoring double in the bottom of the sixth. For the game, the catcher went 1 for 2 with a double and 2 walks, while scoring 2 runs.

Stanifer called the win "a team effort."
