The Santa Fe Chiefs topped the Syracuse Scorpions, 10-4, at Scorpion Stadium. Santa Fe first baseman Steve McKinstry was a spark plug for the offense. He was 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. Mike McBeth closed it out for Santa Fe, earning his 5th save. The second-place Chiefs now have a win-loss record of 37-46.

Santa Fe took the lead on McKinstry's 17th home run of the season. The 3-run home run, which came against Tyler Hildebrand in the top of the seventh, made the score 7-4, Santa Fe.
