The Ann Arbor Z's defeated the Denver Pilots, 5-3, in part because of left fielder Jeff Wise. Wise was 2-2 with a double and 2 walks for the Z's. Denver has now lost 5 in a row.

Hunter Schalow had a big 2-run double for the Z's in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Ann Arbor leading 1-0 and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he got a splitter from Danny Pena and swatted a double to left-center. It was his 32nd double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Z's ahead, 3-0.

Wise attributed the win to his team's "dogged determination."
