The Palm Springs Heat had to overcome a fine effort from Orono pitcher Dave Figley to win, 5-4, at University of Maine Stadium. Figley went 8 innings and allowed 4 runs. Palm Springs pitcher Isiah Hamlin earned the win, hiking his record to 8-3. Tim Kondas suffered the loss. Palm Springs improves to 95-47 with the win. They lead their division by 13 games.
Palm Springs used the timely hitting of Eric Milbrandt to seize the win. The third baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the 11th inning to put the Heat on top, 5-4. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
In postgame comments, Milbrandt said he was glad to contribute to an exciting win.
