Purple Wave Clip Pilots, 7-6

The Purple Wave grabbed a win, 7-6, at Ballpark of Lexington, overcoming a fine effort from Denver pitcher Rick Collins. Collins went 5 innings and allowed no runs. New Rochelle pitcher Jeff Hughes got the win, upping his record to 1-0. Chris Anderson got the loss. At 69-71, the Purple Wave find themselves in 4th place in the Stripes Conference East Division.
New Rochelle took a 7-6 lead in the bottom of the eighth inning, when Victor Lopez hit a clutch grand slam home run to bring Purple Wave fans to their feet.
"It's the best feeling when you come through for your teammates," said Lopez.
