Orono got a decent performance from pitcher Jeff Weingart, but it wasn't enough to beat the Spokane Selects. Spokane won the Selects Ballpark contest, 3-2. Weingart threw 8.0 innings of 5-hit ball for the losing team. Mike Bruce, the winner, is now 3-4. He struck out 6 and walked 2 over 5.2 innings, while allowing 2 runs on 6 hits. The Selects improved their record to 76-65 with the win over Orono.
Left Fielder Ian Schelling made an impact for Spokane, when he swatted a solo home run off Jeff Weingart in the bottom of the fourth. For the contest, Schelling went 1 for 4 with a home run.
"I really like what we did out there today," Schelling said after the game.
