The Fremont Marshalls handed the Randolph Prairie Thunder a 5-1 defeat at Hedgehogs Ballpark. Second Baseman David Duthie starred for Fremont. He was 1-3 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. The win was credited to 27-year old right-handed pitcher Kevon Frederick in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Brad Goodman took the loss. J.D. Vernon converted his 12th save in 15 tries.
Duthie had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the seventh. On a 1-0 fastball from Brad Goodman, he banged a 3-run home run to left-center, giving the Marshalls a 3-1 lead. It was the 20th home run of the year for Duthie.
Fremont manager Tyrone Hairston said his team played a "no nonsense" game.
