Oaks Capture Close Win

The Orono Oaks had to overcome a fine effort from Hickory pitcher Ian McSorley to win, 3-2, at University of Maine Stadium. McSorley went 7 innings and allowed 2 runs. At 83-57, the Oaks claim second place in the Stripes Conference East Division.
Had Jordan Diaz not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 3rd, Diaz hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Oaks.
"Hustle and hard work is a big part of our success," said Diaz. "Those qualities define our team."
