Heat Use Late Surge to Win
|
Quebec got a valiant performance from pitcher Josh Bass, but it wasn't enough to beat the Palm Springs Heat. Palm Springs won the game, 5-3. Bass threw 7.0 innings of shutout ball for the losing team. The win was credited to Marvin Henderson in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Casey Danis took the loss. Isiah Hamlin notched his 28th save in 32 chances.
Palm Springs used the timely hitting of Carlos Velasco to capture the win. The center fielder stroked a 2-run double in the top of the eighth inning to put the Heat on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but he made it count.
Palm Springs manager Rogelio Sanchez praised his team's "businesslike approach."
The Heat saw their win-loss record go to 94-46. At the same time, the Aces fell to 69-71.
