Purple Wave Deal Hickory 2-1 Defeat

Ballpark of Lexington was the site of a remarkable pitchers' duel.
The New Rochelle Purple Wave banked on Blake Banks and he turned in a masterful performance. The right-hander kept the Hickory hitters in check. The final score was 2-1, Purple Wave. The winner was Bobby Gang in relief. His record improves to 2-3. David Johnson took the loss. Picking up his 7th save was 26-year old right-handed pitcher Marcos Rosas.
Had Kody Garcia not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Garcia hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Purple Wave.
In comments to the New Rochelle Gazette, Banks admitted that he doesn't always push himself. "But the results," he said, "speak for themselves."
With the win, New Rochelle raised its record to 76-62.
