Marshalls Rally Late to Nip Purple Wave
|
The Fremont Marshalls faced a tough opponent in New Rochelle pitcher Chris Simon, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Ballpark of Lexington by a final score of 2-1 in 10 innings. Simon went 6.2 innings and allowed 1 run. Ryan Butler, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 17th save. Fremont is now 65-73, while New Rochelle is 81-57.
The result might have been different, had it not been for 21-year old second baseman Pete Horne. Horne had a run-scoring double in the top of the tenth inning to put the Marshalls ahead, 2-1. For the game, Horne had 1 double and 2 singles in 5 at-bats.
"My job is to go out and play as hard as I can for the Marshalls," said Horne.
