Purple Wave Win, 4-2, at Orono
|
Behind a solid performance from third baseman Kyle Nash, the New Rochelle Purple Wave defeated the Orono Oaks, 4-2. Nash was 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for the Purple Wave. New Rochelle reliever Joe Russell got the win, raising his record to 1-2. Chris Hawes was tagged with the loss. Zachery Naquin picked up the save for New Rochelle, his 2nd of the year.
With New Rochelle leading 2-0 in the top of the third, Nash batted against Orono pitcher Chris Hawes. Nash hit a splitter to right for a 2-run home run. His 1st home run of the season put the Purple Wave on top, 4-0.
Nash called the win "a team effort."
The first-place Oaks dropped to 93-45.
