With Late Score, Marshalls Beat Purple Wave
|
New Rochelle got a decent performance from pitcher Brian Breen, but it wasn't enough to beat the Fremont Marshalls. Fremont won the Ballpark of Lexington contest, 3-2. Breen threw 8.0 innings of 5-hit ball for the losing team. The win was credited to 29-year old right-handed pitcher Mike Arnerich in relief. His record improves to 3-3. Brian Breen took the loss. The Marshalls are now 64-73.
Fremont used the timely hitting of Aaron Nelson to seize the win. The designated hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Marshalls on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"We took home the win," said Nelson. "What's not to like?"
