Indians Upend Bruins, 2-1
|
Dillonvale Indians starter Jesus Garcia hurled his team past the Westwood Bruins, 2-1. Garcia, now 5-14, was the winner. In 5.2 innings, he gave up 3 hits, while striking out 4, walking 3, and allowing 1 run. At 37-100, the Indians are currently last in the Stripes Conference East Division.
Trey Lacey had a big solo home run for the Indians in the top of the sixth inning. With Dillonvale leading 1-0 and the bases empty, he got a slider from 28-year old right-handed pitcher Rodrigo Izquierdo and swatted a home run to right. It was his 10th home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Indians ahead, 2-0.
"Tough loss," said Westwood manager Hasan Raif. "Tough one to swallow."
