Clutch Hitting Delivers Win for Marshalls
Steve Howard was a vital contributor to the 5-4 Fremont victory over New Rochelle. The Marshalls first baseman was 3-4 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Fremont reliever Steve Bolling was the winner. His record is now 1-0. The losing pitcher was Jerry Utsler. Their 84-51 record puts the Marshalls second in the Stripes Conference East Division.

Fremont used the timely hitting of John Piscitelli to seize the win. The third baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Marshalls on top, 5-4. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"We ground out the win," said Piscitelli. "That's all that matters."
