Oaks Deal Marshalls 7-1 Loss
|
The Orono Oaks picked up a win at Hedgehogs Ballpark, topping the Fremont Marshalls, 7-1. On the mound for Orono was right-hander Erik Ashley. He played a principal role in the triumph. The winning pitcher was Ashley, now 9-7. He tossed 6.2 innings of 2-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 6. The save was credited to Nick Calvache, his 3rd.
Paul McComas, who is tied for 9th in the StC in bases on balls with 56, contributed to the Orono win with a grand slam home run in the top of the ninth. For the game, the designated hitter had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 4 RBI.
In postgame comments to the Orono Daily, McComas said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
Orono now has a record of 78-57 with the win.
