Selects Get Extra-Inning, 2-1 Win
|
Spokane and Dillonvale played a hard-fought contest.
Spokane starter Josh Wilkes pitched well against the Dillonvale Indians at Black Diamonds Ballpark. The left-hander led his team to a win, 2-1, in 10 innings. Vince Rice, who is tied for 10th in the StC in saves with 15, was the winner in relief. His record is now 5-5. The losing pitcher was Omar Trujillo. Phil Junell got the save, his 3rd in 3 chances.
Spokane used a timely hit from Marc McCain to get the win. The right fielder stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the tenth inning to put the Selects ahead, 2-1. It was his only hit in 2 at-bats, but it made an impact.
"Took some scratching and clawing," said McCain. "But we got it done."
The triumph puts Spokane at 70-63 for the season.
