Fighting Quakers Claw Out 2-1 Win
|
In a low-scoring affair between the Quebec Fighting Quakers and the New Rochelle Purple Wave, pitcher Nick Beck was the difference between victory and defeat. The Quebec right-hander earned kudos in the 2-1 Fighting Quakers win. Beck yielded 1 run over 5.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 4 hits, walked 0, and struck out 7. His record improves to 8-4. Quebec raised its record to 67-63 with the win.
The Fighting Quakers got a big at-bat from third baseman Joe Tinson. For the game, Tinson was 1-2 with a double and a walk. In the bottom of the fourth, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 25th double of the season gave Quebec a 2-1 lead.
"Nick was pounding the zone," said Quebec manager Jeff Gray.
