Denver Dealt 5-1 Defeat
|
Westwood Bruins starter Roy McLain pitched a strong game against the Denver Pilots at Jackie Robinson Stadium, leading the Bruins to victory, 5-1. Westwood pitcher John Sims earned the win, hiking his record to 1-0. Jose Chacon suffered the loss. The Bruins improved their record to 70-62 with the win over Denver.
Westwood took a 4-1 lead on Brian Massey's 2nd triple of the season. The 2-run triple, which Massey hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Denver pitcher Danny Pena visibly frustrated.
"I liked his command," said Westwood manager Hasan Raif. "Roy was throwing strikes."
