Hickory turned a fine outing from starter Roy Doub into a victory over the New Rochelle Purple Wave at Crawdad Park. The final score was 4-0. The winning pitcher was Doub, now 9-2. He tossed 5.2 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 5 and fanning 5. The Stripes Conference West Division-leading Crawdads have a record of 79-53.

The Crawdads got a big at-bat from first baseman Billy Totten. For the game, Totten went 1-3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the fourth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 9th home run of the season gave Hickory a 2-0 lead.
