The New Rochelle Purple Wave topped the Ann Arbor Z's, 5-4, in Stripes Conference action at Knights Ballpark. The standout performance belonged to New Rochelle pitcher and Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, native Dave Barncord. Barncord got the win, improving to 8-8. He gave up 7 hits and walked 2 over 6.2 innings. He allowed 4 runs. Keith Hawes recorded the save, his 20th.

Mike Belsito came through with a big-time hit for New Rochelle. The catcher smacked a 2-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to give his team the lead, 5-4. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.

"It feels good to get this one," Belsito told the New Rochelle Daily.

With the win, New Rochelle pushed its record to 70-58.
