Pilots Use Late Surge to Win
|
The Spokane Selects were defeated, 4-2, by the Denver Pilots at Selects Ballpark, even though Jesse Walker pitched well for Spokane. Denver is 61-65 and Spokane, with the loss, 70-56.
Gus Marquez came through with a big-time hit for Denver. The right fielder smacked a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to give his team the lead, 4-2. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
"You come to the ballpark to do your job and that's what I did today," Marquez told the Denver Chronicle.
