The New Rochelle Purple Wave knocked off the Randolph Prairie Thunder, 7-4, in Stripes Conference action at Prairie Thunder Ballpark. New Rochelle pitcher and Lonoke, Arkansas, native Josh Shropshire had an outstanding performance. Shropshire yielded 2 runs over 6.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 9 hits, walked 2, and struck out 8. His record improves to 7-3. The Purple Wave, at 72-53, sit in second place in the Stripes Conference East Division.

New Rochelle right fielder Steve Taylor contributed a timely at-bat in the top of the third. With two down, he hit a changeup to center field for a 2-run single. It was his 79th hit of the season and put the Purple Wave ahead, 3-0.

"It feels good to get this one," Shropshire told the New Rochelle Times.
