Carachure Stops Dillonvale Cold, 10-0
|
The Dillonvale Indians had no answer for Palm Springs Heat pitcher Carlos Carachure. They failed to score a single run against him, losing, 10-0. Dillonvale managed only 6 hits off Carachure, who had 11 strikeouts.
The extraordinarily popular Carachure got a standing ovation from the hometown crowd as he left the field, the applause continuing until he returned from the dugout to tip his cap to the crowd.
"Heat fans are the best fans, in my opinion," he said. "It's a great feeling to throw a shutout under any circumstances, but to do it with the crowd behind you like that is just incredible."
This season, Carachure has fashioned a 4-0 mark and 1.83 ERA in 44.1 innings. Opposing clubs are batting .171 against him and he has logged 45 strikeouts.
