The New Rochelle Purple Wave used the hitting of catcher Mike Belsito to subdue the Denver Pilots, 8-5, in 10 innings. For the game, Belsito was 2 for 4 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. Brian Breen, now 3-0, was credited with the win in 3 innings of relief. He allowed 2 runs on 2 hits, while striking out 6 and walking 2. Keith Hawes earned the save, his 19th, for the Purple Wave.

New Rochelle used the timely hitting of Ricky Nava to seize the win. The shortstop stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put the Purple Wave on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"Our team found a way to get it done," said Belsito.

The Purple Wave have now won 6 straight.
