Patrick 3-for-4 to Power Bruins Offense
|
Getting a good performance from center fielder Joel Patrick, the Westwood Bruins defeated the Hickory Crawdads, 7-1. Patrick was 3-4 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 times and drove in 3 for the Bruins. Brian Underwood picked up the win, lifting his record to 1-3 on the season. He struck out 5 and walked 2 in 5.2 innings, while yielding 1 run. Antonio Jusino earned his 1st save, after closing out the game.
Ruben Rios had a big solo home run for the Bruins in the top of the fifth inning. With Westwood leading 2-1 and the bases empty, he sized up a fastball from former first round draft pick Marquise Robinson and punished it. The result was his 2nd home run of the season, which put the Bruins on top, 3-1.
"Whenever we hold the other team to one run," said Bruins manager Nate Hendrickson, "I like our chances."
The third-place Bruins have a record of 62-57.
