Crawdads Score Late, Topple Marshalls, 3-1
|
Hickory turned a good effort from starter Chad Bendon into a win over the Fremont Marshalls at Hedgehogs Ballpark. The Crawdads won the game, 3-1. The save was credited to Dusty Nelson, his 6th. The Crawdads have an impressive 79-37 record.
Hickory used the timely hitting of Blake Stangle to seize the win. The center fielder stroked a 2-run single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Crawdads on top, 3-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
Bendon called the win a testament to his team's "grit."
