Bruins Win Nail-Biter in 10
|
The Westwood Bruins withstood a good performance by Orono designated hitter Aaron Nelson to knock off Orono, 4-3, in 10 innings. Nelson went 3 for 5 with 2 home runs. The first-place Bruins, at 70-47, now lead their division by 5 games.
Westwood used a timely hit from Alec Pavelka to get the win. The pinch hitter stroked a 2-run double in the top of the tenth inning to put the Bruins ahead, 4-2. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it made an impact.
"This ballgame left me feeling kind of raw," said Orono manager Mike Barriga.
