Slumping Indians Lose 9th Straight
|
The Orono Oaks weathered a fine game by Dillonvale center fielder Tim Wolff to upend the Indians, 7-3, at Black Diamonds Ballpark. Wolff went 3-3 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Jeff Weingart earned the win to go to 14-5. He allowed 3 runs on 8 hits, with 3 walks and 5 strikeouts in 8.2 innings of work. Dillonvale is in the throes of a long losing streak, which is now 9 games.
With two out in the top of the ninth, Cesar Mena had a game-changing hit. The Oaks second baseman slammed a 2-run single off Jim Unknown, making the score 6-3, Orono.
"This game will humble you at times and you've got to buck up and deal with it," said Dillonvale manager Markus Mensink.
