The Hickory Crawdads picked up a win at Crawdad Park, knocking off the Fremont Marshalls, 5-3. Starting pitcher Kevin Kovach was a big reason why. Phil Junell got the save, his 16th in 17 chances. With the win, Hickory raised its record to 64-53.

The Crawdads got a big at-bat from designated hitter Jack Hafner. For the game, Hafner went 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the first, with a runner on 3rd, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 22nd home run of the season gave Hickory a 2-0 lead.

Hafner called the win "a team effort."
