Oaks Take Down Pilots, 2-1
|
The Orono Oaks picked up a win at Pilots Ballpark, knocking off the Denver Pilots, 2-1. Starting pitcher Ryan Henry was a big reason why. Mauricio Martinez notched the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2 innings. His record now sits at 4-1. At 68-49, the Oaks claim second place in the Stripes Conference East Division.
The game was at a stalemate until second baseman Kyle Parker came to bat in the top of the 12th. Facing Denver pitcher Dante Ramos, he hit a 1-1 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Orono on top, 2-1.
Orono manager Mike Sanchez praised his team's "energy."
