Aces Fall Short, 8-7, at Hickory
|
Chris Boyd powered the Hickory Crawdads to a win over the Quebec Aces. The final score was 8-7. The Hickory left fielder, who is tied for 9th in the StC in home runs with 14, was a force to be reckoned with. He banged out 2 extra-base hits, including 1 home run and 1 double. Shane Kidd nailed down his 21st save. At 69-47, the Crawdads are currently first in the Stripes Conference West Division.
The Crawdads got a big hit from center fielder Gabe Osburn. In the bottom of the sixth, Osburn smacked a 3-run home run off Quebec pitcher Jonathan Harvey. It was his 4th home run of the season. Suddenly, the Crawdads were ahead, 8-7.
"We swung the bats good throughout the lineup," said Hickory skipper Ray Sanchez.
