Selects Use Late Rally to Win
|
Danny Aleman was instrumental in his team's 5-2 triumph over the Orono Oaks. The right fielder was 4 for 4 with 4 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for the Spokane Selects. Dennis Cambridge, the winner, improved to 8-3. He held the Oaks to 2 runs on 3 hits over 7 innings, while striking out 3 and walking 1. John Hennig earned the save for Spokane, his 5th of the year.
The game was all tied up in the top of the eighth, until Aleman delivered big-time for Spokane, stroking a dramatic run-scoring single off Nick Calvache. The game-changing hit put the Selects on top, 3-2.
"This win gets us that much closer to where we want to be," Aleman said in postgame remarks.
Spokane is second in the Stripes Conference West Division with a record of 68-46.
