Crawdads Use Late Score to Top Prairie Thunder, 5-4
The Randolph Prairie Thunder and Hickory Crawdads provided some drama for the home crowd.

The Randolph Prairie Thunder could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Simon Scales into a win. Instead, the Hickory Crawdads prevailed, 5-4. Scales threw 7.2 innings of 3-hit ball. Reliever Nate Briceno picked up the win. His record improves to 6-1. Brad Antol took the loss.

Hickory used a timely hit from Hugo Quiles to get the win. The pinch hitter stroked a 2-run double in the top of the ninth inning to put the Crawdads ahead, 5-4. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it made an impact.

Hickory manager Ray Sanchez commended his team for "banging out a nice win."

Hickory improves to 74-38 with the win. They lead their division by 4½ games.
