Hickory starter Omar Cons kept the Walnut Park offense from doing much damage. The right-hander leaned on his fastball in leading the Crawdads to a 3-1 win. Getting the save was Dusty Nelson, his 16th. The 68-44 Crawdads lead the Stripes Conference West Division by one game.

Hickory used the timely hitting of Jeremy Alfano to capture the win. The third baseman socked a 2-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Crawdads ahead, 3-0. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a big one.

Cons called the win a testament to his team's "grit."
