Selects Score Late to Nip Purple Wave, 2-1

In a low-scoring contest between the Spokane Selects and the New Rochelle Purple Wave, fan favorite Nick Horrocks proved to be the difference. The Spokane right-hander earned props for his performance in the 2-1 Selects win. The second-place Selects improved to 61-48.
Spokane needed the clutch hitting of Ian Schelling to seal the deal. The designated hitter swatted a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Selects on top, 2-0. For the game, Schelling had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"Every loss stings," said New Rochelle manager Brent Boudreau. "This one is no exception."
