The Ann Arbor Z's downed the Denver Pilots, 12-0, at Knights Ballpark. Richard Ulmer led the way, going 3-for-4 for Ann Arbor. Jeff Mitchell, the winner, improved to 11-8. He held Denver to no runs on 3 hits over 7.2 innings, while racking up 10 strikeouts. The 5th-place Z's are 52-58.

The Z's got a big hit from third baseman Steve Post. In the bottom of the seventh, Post pounded a 3-run home run to right. His 8th home run of the season put the Z's ahead, 9-0.

"We'll hit the hot tub in good spirits tonight," said Ulmer.
