Davenport K's 11 En Route to 3-1 Pilots Win
|
In a low-scoring affair between the Denver Pilots and the New Rochelle Purple Wave, pitcher Mike Davenport was the difference between victory and defeat. The Denver right-hander earned accolades in the 3-1 Pilots win. David Pool sewed up the save, his 27th. Denver currently is in 4th place in the Stripes Conference West Division at 52-54.
The Purple Wave had little chance against Davenport, who overpowered New Rochelle hitters and struck out 11.
"Mike is still learning," said Pilots manager Adrian Collins. "The sky's the limit for him."
