The Orono Oaks got a sterling performance from pitcher Dave Figley, but the Denver Pilots still prevailed, 5-3. Figley threw 6.0 innings of 5-hit ball. David Fry picked up the win, lifting his record to 6-6 on the season. He struck out 6 and walked 3 in 6.1 innings, while yielding 3 runs. Dave Coe finished to wrap up his 8th save.
Denver used the clutch hitting of John Grabowski to snag the win. The left fielder drilled a 3-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Pilots ahead, 5-3. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a crucial one.
"This was a good win," said Grabowski.
Denver goes to 44-63, Orono to 61-46.
