Win Streak at 7 for Crawdads
|
The Hickory Crawdads earned a win at Crawdad Park, knocking off the Palm Springs Heat, 5-2. On the bump for Hickory was right-hander Jesus Howell. He had a starring role in the triumph. Howell picked up the win for Hickory, going 6 innings. He gave up 2 runs on 8 hits. He now sports a record of 6-3. The Heat, now 42-65, have lost 10 in a row.
Andrew Baltzley had a big grand slam home run for the Crawdads in the bottom of the second inning. With Hickory trailing 1-0 and the bases loaded, he sized up a slider from Jose Paredes, who is tied for 8th in the StC in innings pitched with 129.2, and punished it. The result was his 11th home run of the season, which put the Crawdads on top, 4-1.
Palm Springs manager Rogelio Sanchez, after yet another defeat, said: "We need to recalibrate."
