Barrie Wins, 4-1
|
In baseball, each game is unique. This one was no different.
The Barrie Admirals downed the Columbus Bowsers, 4-1, at Ballpark of Columbus. The Admirals were led by Danny Walker. Walker went 2-3 with a home run, a walk, and was hit by a pitch, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. Chris McAuley, now 7-0, picked up the win in relief. He allowed 1 run on 2 hits in 1.2 innings. Jerardo Perez earned the save for Barrie, his 35th of the year.
Barrie used the timely hitting of Sam Green to seize the win. The first baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Admirals on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
Green attributed the win to his team's "steely resolve."
The triumph puts Barrie at 88-51 for the season.
