Heroes Win Again, Streak Now at 13
|
The Mexico City Aztecs had their hands full with Pueblo Heroes starter Vinny Alvarenga, who frustrated Mexico City hitters while leading Pueblo to a comfortable, 8-0 win. The Heroes, now 90-42, have won 13 in a row.
Tied up with the Aztecs in the bottom of the fifth inning, the Heroes got a boost from second baseman Nate Cobb. With the bases loaded, Cobb saw a 2-1 fastball from Mel Mercado and hit a 2-run single to break the stalemate and put Pueblo on top, 2-0.
"Getting ahead of the hitters was the key," said Alvarenga.
