Fans were not deterred by the threat of rain. They came to see their hometown Dollywood Partons take on the Columbus Bowsers.

Dollywood left fielder Mark Shmidt was instrumental in helping the Partons triumph, 7-4, over the Columbus Bowsers. Shmidt went 3 for 4 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk. The losing streak for Columbus has now reached 5 games.

With Dollywood leading 5-4 in the bottom of the fifth, Shmidt batted against Columbus pitcher Joel Racinowski. Shmidt hit a fastball to right-center for a run-scoring double. His 22nd double of the season put the Partons on top, 6-4.

"It's the best feeling when you come through for your teammates," said Shmidt.
